When Star-Lord Likely Will Team Up With The Avengers

It was an epic moment when the Marvel Cinematic Universe finally brought all of the Avengers together for the first time. However, since then the MCU has only become larger. There are entirely new characters that exist in the MCU who have never crossed paths with anybody else up to this point. It looks like those plans are about to change. The Russo Brothers have opened up about some of their thoughts regarding the Avengers: Infinity War movies, and those plans apparently involve Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord.

The Russo Brothers had a chance to work with nearly every member of the MCU as part of Captain America: Civil War, including some that nobody else has had a chance to work with. Comicbook.com asked the Russos which of the characters they were most looking forward to working with in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War and Anthony Russo’s answer was somebody who wasn’t on the most recent roster: Chris Pratt.

    The [Infinity War] movies are intended to be a culmination of everything that's happened before in the MCU, so you don't want to get into spoilers but I'm a big fan of what James Gunn has done. [Joe Russo and I] are both big fans of what James Gunn has done. Star-Lord is a fantastic character and Chris Pratt is an awesome performer so you'd be very excited.


While not too surprising, this is the first confirmation that we’ve seen that anybody from the Guardians of the Galaxy would be appearing in Avengers: Infinity War. The Infinity War was a major crossover in the comics that included characters from all over the MCU, not simply those who hung out on earth, so it would be fitting that the same would happen in the movie version. Marvel Studios has been building towards the film since practically the beginning. The Russo’s have also stated that they are juggling a lot of characters as they try to put the films together, so it’s not surprising that the Guardians are among them.

While it’s great to know that Chris Pratt and Star-Lord will be part of Avengers: Infinity War, we’re also hoping that this statement isn’t implying that he’ll be the only members of the Guardians of the Galaxy to make an appearance in the film. Chris Pratt is great, but what made the movie so much fun was the team that came together. If Anthony Russo wants to single out his favorite member of the team, that’s fine, but we’re hopeful that everybody will get an invitation to the party. Only seeing Star-Lord on screen would feel like a lost opportunity.
